MolecularWare, Inc. Releases DigitalGenomeTM Version 2.23

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., July 1, 2002 - MolecularWare, Inc. a bioinformatics company, announces the release of Version 2.23 of its DigitalGenomeTM software. The DigitalGenomeTM system, with users in pharmaceutical, biotech and research institutes in the U.S., Japan, England and Australia, enables the quick implementation of a database management system to improve workflow, data control and the annotation of research data.

In introducing Version 2.23, James Costales, Ph.D., vice president of software engineering, emphasized the company’s commitment to providing the leading workflow management system for life sciences research. "The enhancements to DigitalGenomeTM come directly from customer feedback," Dr. Costales said. "When our users request new features or compatibility with additional systems, we make it a priority to add them to our product suite. Saving time is key to our customers in the race to discover drugs and drug targets."

DigitalGenomeTM facilitates the capture, annotation and analysis of data from robot-assisted experiments in a format that is easy to implement and use. The latest release includes 16 enhancements across the product’s three modules. Among the most groundbreaking:

  • An Annotation Editor allows users to easily add, delete or modify their annotations. Previously, these functions had to be performed in a text file.

  • Color enhancements allow users to color wells and spots based on the value of a selected annotation. For example, all microarray spots can be colored by gene expression ratio or log2 ratio.

  • Additional data mining support lets users directly export results into MolecularMining Corp.’s GeneLinkerTM Gold and Spotfire®, Inc.’s DecisionSiteTM, as well as other data visualization and mining packages.

  • Additional robotic support means the DesignerDGTM graphical user interface now works with Beckman Coulter, Inc.’s Biomek® FX robot, GeneMachines’ OmniGrid® Accent and Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc.’s ChipWriterTM Pro and Compact robots. In all, the software supports more than 90 percent of the microarray robots on the market.

  • DigitalGenomeTM 2.23 is available now to new customers as well as existing customers with maintenance contracts.
